Our Background

In 2012 the Methodist Church in Stoke purchased the derelict West End pub with a vision of creating a Church and Community Centre in the heart of Stoke.

A great deal of fund raising and successful grant applications followed, not to mention a lot of determination and hard work.  The renovation project began in August 2014 and the West End Methodist Church, Community Centre and Café West End opened its doors in February 2015.

A number of activities were very soon established, and to enable the Community Centre to reach its full potential, the Church was successful in achieving funding from the Big Lottery.

Since its launch in October 2016, ‘West End Centre & Cafe West End’ as it has come to be known, continues it commitment in building strong, trusted relationships with local people.  We work creatively in partnership with a number of like minded, local organisations to offer a wide range of activities, services and support.

Café West End has its own valuable role within the Centre.  It is a safe and welcoming place to visit, led by our fantastic team of Volunteers. Delicious homemade cake is the order of the day, together with speciality coffee and great quality, affordable food  prepared by our very own Chef
